What Are The Different Types Of Solar Garden Lights Available In The Market?

Garden is a big area. How can i use different solar garden lights to light up my whole garden?

South Charlotte Real Estate-Waxhaw Homes for Sale-Marvin Real Estate-Union County Schools

If location is king in real estate, then Waxhaw uses its prime location to its supreme advantage. The town runs right up to the edge of Mecklenburg County. This area is a big draw for people venturing into the South Charlotte real estate market.

Folks like to live here for three very good reasons; it’s location, excellent schools, and low, low taxes (just shy of half that which you would pay in Charlotte)!  Here, you are more apt to find homes with 6,000 square feet, than to find homes with 2500 square feet. Most of the homes are relatively new, as are the schools. The area really expanded its growth upon the heels of South Charlotte and the Ballantyne Development.

Once horse country, a drive down any of its old country roads would take you past some beautiful rolling pasture land, with barns as the backdrop for the horses that grazed there. A  few farms are left, but most have succombed to developers. Home to many estates. Here you’ll find one very large development, with three sections: Providence Downs, Providence Downs South and The Residences of Providence Downs South. Each street within the development is named after a Derby winner or a horse of note. Home prices range from $500, 000 to  $3.5 Million (July 2009).  The school set up is Marvin Elementary, Middle and High School. The community offers a clubhouse, pool, tennis and basketball courts, soccer fields, a putting green, fitness center, and walking trails. Many of these homes have their own pool…and a little of everything else! Very grand, indeed.

Another development close to the South Charlotte border is Toll Brothers’ Marvin Creek. Marvin Creek’s idea of a pool area, will leave you scratching your head. It is every child’s dream pool!  Noted for its incredible amenities, Marvin Creek’s residents enjoy a 6,500 square foot clubhouse with a beach pool, lazy river, geyser park, tennis and multipurpose courts. The entrance to the community is equally impressive with a spray of fountains and guardhouse. Homes in this neighborhood typically range in price from $600,000-$900,000; with 4,000-6,000 heated square feet-give or take a few!

Longview Country Club is also tucked in right across the border. Rated #11 in NC by Golf Digest, this gated community opened in 2003. A Jack Nichlous Signature course, sporting a 28,000 square foot clubhouse with multiple lounges, dining areas and terraces. Stunning. The 10,000 square foot activity center’s lower level is complete with massage and steam rooms, state of the art work out equipment, and fitness classes. If you need a place for the kids, there is a Youth Lodge upstairs. The pool facilities offer both adult and family resort-style pools, with a wading area and a hot tub. There are also four Har-Tu tennis courts. This is just one of a very few gated communities in the Charlotte real estate market. Prices range from $900,000 to $3.5 million.

The draw for all of these neighborhoods, is the convenient location to South Charlotte. Within a five mile range, you can be at one of many fine establishments. Every type of restaurant, boutique, national, local and chain store imaginable…all set amongst fountains, and nightly music, theatres, plenty of plenty! It is also very easy on the eye. Each shopping area has been beautifully developed with the use of pedestian friendly venues. Going from shop to shop is no hardship here. The use of landscaping has softened the retail shoppes and the roadways. It’s all very, very nice.

Some of our MOST popular neighborhoods on this ‘just over the border’ area of South Charlotte, would be the communities of Hunter Oaks and Somerset. They were the hottest neighborhoods going, when the roads opened up into Union County. They have continued to be top sellers in the Charlotte real estate market today. Both offer wonderful swim clubs, tennis courts and playgrounds. Buffed up by huge Oak and Magnolia trees, sidewalks a plenty and street lamps. The price ranges in here from $300,000 to $500, 000. The square footage range is between 2200 and 4500. The schools are yet another draw, with Rea View Elementary, Marvin Ridge Middle and High School.

So, there you have it! If you are shopping for Charlotte NC real estate, don’t overlook it’s bordering counties!

What Dimensions Should The Garden Be To Maximize The Area While Keeping The Same Perimeter?

The area of the garden is 160 ft² and the perimeter is 52 ft.
How do I do this? I already know the dimensions of the garden are 10 × 16 ft but what does it mean to “maximize the area while keeping the same perimeter”? And how would you solve this?

Tools To Help You Garden

Gardening can be a very pleasant activity simply undertaken to relax at the end of the day or week butfor some people it becomes the highlight of the day.

Gardening is an art, and like any masterpiece, it requires tender loving care and passion. Part of the art is choosing the proper tools. Just like a painting you need the best quality gardening tools before you can make the best garden. Just like a pet, your garden requires the same amount of care so that your plants can blossom to their fullest. In the US alone, there are actually millions of people who engage in this hobby particularly because they find it relaxing and refreshing.

Finding the right gardening tools is essential in the maintenance of your garden. But that’s not all. If you want a beautiful garden, you need to make sure that your gardening supplies are complete – to grow plants you need seeds, to help seeds flourish, you need plant food, and the process continues.

When starting a garden there are other things to think about as well as buying the gardening tools and supplies. Initially you should look at how much room you have and what you wish to grow as this will determine what tools and supplies will be required. Plants require plenty of sunshine to grow properly so make sure your garden will be situated in an open area. The size of the garden isn’t really important as long as it is not in a shaded area.

Next, the type of gardening tools that you will need depends on where you are going to be doing your gardening. An indoor garden needs different tools than one which is outdoors. For example, in an outdoor garden, you’ll probably need a weed trimmer or a cultivator but you won’t need this for an indoor garden since your plants will probably be in pots and it is very easy to control the weeds. Also, you may need a rake, shovel and hoe to make your outdoor garden area smooth and to dig holes to plant the seeds, and a mower for the lawn.

For indoor gardens a watering can is essential and you may want to consider grow lamps to help your plants mature if you cannot provide enough sunlight. For young seedlings, you need a light that falls within the blue color spectrum while more mature plants need light which is in the red and orange range in order for them to fruit or flower.

A greenhouse may be a useful accessory in the garden either to start off seedlings or to grow those plants which require warmer conditions.

Some gardening tools for soil less gardens have been developed so that even people who live in a high rise apartment or who have no garden can still enjoy this past time. Hydroponics gardening systems are becoming very popular for such situations.

Sometimes, finding the right gardening tools can be confusing especially when you are just starting your own garden. This is why you need to ensure that your supplier for gardening tools and material is credible and is passionate about gardens so you can get the best value for your money. When a supplier is dedicated to make the best gardens, then you purchase not only gardening tools – you can also get advice and tips on how to make your garden blossom!

What Garden Crops Grow Well In Shaded Areas?

I have a shaded area next to my garage that is suitable for garden but it is shaded most of the day. What might grow here?

Basic Indoor hydroponics Gardening Guide – Indoor Grow Lights for Hydroponics Systems

A great indoor garden requires a good grow light. It could mean the difference between success and failure. Having the right hydroponic light is the single-most important and costly decision in setting up your garden.

Hydroponic grow lights come in three main types:

Incandescent lights

These are the usual lights found in homes. They are generally a poor choice for garden grown lights because of their limited light spectrum and inefficiency.

HID (High Intensity Discharge) grow lights

Producing more light (up to 10x more lumens/watt than an incandescent light),are more efficient. Drawbacks would be, they produce more heat, generally more expensive than incandescent lights and requires the additional expense and maintenance with ballast. It takes around 100 hours before hydroponic HID grow lights reach their optimum working conditions, or until they reach light intensity and color stability.

Natural Sunlight

Expense for acquiring artificial lights can be skipped by using sunlight. This is done with the use of solar room, greenhouse or large windows which allows plenty of sunlight. Or you can do this outdoors; hydroponics does not necessarily mean the cultivation of plants indoors but it growing plants without the use of soil.

Basic setup for an indoor garden is 1000w of lighting for and area of 16-25 square feet of plant area. Reflectors and/or light movers should also be considered as they improve efficiency of the indoor hydroponic gardening system. Ballast may also be needed as numerous hydroponic grow lighting require igniting.

 Some Basic Facts

Before plugging in your grow light

Different plants require different levels or types of lighting, this paragraph would deal on some simple know-how on how to make an effective lighting setup. In setting up your garden, it is essential that you determine your growing area in order to determine the best lighting setup for you. Light is an essential factor in the growth of plants, it is important that the lighting solution you chose for your garden is adequate for its size. A poor or ill advised decision would certainly reflect on the quality of plants you produced. Inappropriate budgeting like cost cutting specially on lighting would just prove to be uneconomical and inefficient in the long run.

A general rule for lighting that area coverage is determined by a light wattage output. Reflectors might be used to increase the light area and reach corners but effectiveness is still determined by this formula.

Day and Night Cycles

The type of plant and its stage of growth generally determine the amount of light needed. A common cycle is that with 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness which is recommended for its vegetative growth phase.

For seedlings, a continuous light source is needed until the first real leaves appear. When the leaves appear, the regular 18/6 light cycle is used. Fluorescent or incandescent lights are best for seedling because of the low heat and soft light they generate. Automated timers maybe used to ensure consistent light cycles. Inexpensive timers are also available; this can be found any hardware or Home Depot/ Lowe’s type store.

Light and Photosynthesis

The plants exposure to light intensity, duration and light color directly affects the amount of energy needed for photosynthesis. The color of the light, Blue simulates the summer sun, Orange for autumn seem to stimulate photosynthesis best. The light spectrum produced by metal halide bulbs (Blue lights) and high pressure sodium bulbs (red/ orange lights) produce this effects. HID grow lights produce these effects owing to their popularity to hobbyist and professionals. Combination of metal halide and high pressure sodium bulbs provides the complete spectrum of light produced by the sun.

Use Caution When Working with Lights

The combination of water, electricity and chemicals in such a closed-in space makes the grow room one of the most dangerous places in your house. Keep in mind to separate your ballast by elevating it from the water-containing areas of your hydroponic growing system
